I'm a certified automobile and light truck mechanic who landed a dream job with a local non-profit 9 years ago. Dealership life had lost it's luster and the move was a welcome change.
The new job has me working on everything - excavators, bobcats, tractors, UTV's, and the list goes on. Welding became a necessity right away and I learned first to stick weld with an old Lincoln tombstone on AC. Soon came the need to refine things a bit and a Millermatic 135XP worked well for flux core, dual shield, and mig. Today we have a Lincoln 210MP and lift-arc tig is what's happening at the moment.
I should say that had I been exposed to welding years ago it would have been my profession. I enjoy every opportunity to share some of what I've learned with young people.
