When I go to strike an arc the rod keeps getting stuck. Does anyone know something I can do to help prevent that?

Don't try to strike an arc with a cold rod. Touch the rod firmly to the work stock and hold it there for about 5 seconds. This will preheat a bit of hell fire into the rod. Now lift off and try to strike an arc. This is similar to the hot start feature on some welders but it often works better. If you're working with really cold metal then you may need to preheat the work stock with a torch.

What kind of welder are you using? Even some of the new inverters don't like to run 6010. Also what amps are you running? And what size rod?

Are you a new welder? A lot of new people have this problem.
Scratch quickly like a big stick match. Welder has to be hooked DC+
Also, always provide all information when asking for help - makes the process go faster.
