Greetings all, I'm just learning to weld, so far MIG and hope to get a TIG machine soon and learn that process, hopefully get decent at both eventually. Welding the right way has been a skill I've wanted to learn for 20+ years, I finally invested in some equipment to get started a couple months ago and learned it's not as easy as it looks! After watching dozens of You-tube videos (mostly Jody's) I'm very pleased with my improvement, I can actually put down some decent looking beads finally! Looking forward to learning much more in the coming months and years..

Welcome to the neighborhood!
You've come to a great place to learn and get solid advice from many perspectives. Many welding forums seem to be "egos on parade", but you'll find none of that here. Our egos are boosted simply by knowing this, and we take pride in being able to offer advice and tips from our experiences. The experience here is very broad, from artists to aerospace and virtually everything in between. Someone here described this forum as a "collective expert" due to this broad range.
Jody's an excellent teacher, boiling things down to the essentials, and this is the perfect place to follow up on the things that would otherwise turn his videos in to two-hour documentaries.
Also, if you'll sign your posts with a name or nickname, your replies will go up... It's just human nature to be more comfortable opening a response with "Hi, Bob,"...
