Hi, I am a 69 year old retired Construction Plant engineer and Senior Technical Instructor. My hobbies are engineering, welding and motorcycling. My initial welding experience dates back to oxy acetylene where the acetylene gas was produced by using carbide powder and a water drip feed to produce the gas. Such a pungent smell we used to think the workshop roof would blow off one day! Have used all sorts of cutting eqpt MMA, MIG, Oxy propane etc. Decided I would like to learn to TIG weld so I treated myself to and AC/DC inverter machine this xmas.

Welcome!

I can say I've used the carbide and water in a mining lamp before, but I've never used it as a welding source!
