Hello everyone,

I've been tig welding since Jan. of this year (2015). That makes me a beginner. I have logged in about 200 hours since Jan. and still have a lot to learn. Today I repaired an aluminum John boat. It was outside with wind. I think had it been inside, the weld would have looked a lot better. I also welded a fish plate on top of welded crack. This was the first time I had done that. We'll see how well it is when the customer takes it out on the water.

Welcome, JB,

The simple fact you know what a fish-plate is and how to use it tells us a lot, even if it's the first time.

You've found a great place to advance your skills. There's no shortage of information (or people willing to freely share it) here.

JB,
I spent 4 days at Granbury Lake area waiting for a part at Comanche Peak nuclear plant, there was no shortage of hot weather or scantily dressed woman, the heat I could have done without, the other was a welcome treat. :) I like the area.

The company I work for has a plant (APCI) in Midlothian near the Corning glass plant if I remember correctly, I know it sets back across some RR tracks.

Welcome to the forum, it's a great place to learn about all things welding and fabrication.
