Another (older) hobbyist turning serious ! Got a little Miller 211 MVP a couple of years back and made some fairly nice projects . Someone tried to hire me though and I had to admit I didn't really have a clue about doing it right. Everything was a 'grinder baby'. So in training now - the whole shebang from SMAW to tig - with a teacher who was an Electric Boat (submarine fleet) employee for 20 years. All his welds are still under the ocean so this is the guy for me. Having a flock of a time doing 4G short circuit right now and its hot as a two dollar pistol in Florida anyway so it ain't nothing but fun! But I LOVE it. Primal. Glad to have found this forum. Keep the sparks flying brethren. I'll be checking in on you!

Welcome, yohimbo,

Having a retiree from the Electric Boat Co. teaching you is a definite plus! That's the pinnacle of Naval welding.
