Welcome, Ted,
You may be the first jeweler here, but you're not the first jeweler I've met who welds. I know one who works industrial shutdowns, and he and his wife make fine jewelry on the side, primarily commissioned pieces.
There's a wealth of knowledge here, and you're encouraged to take full advantage of it.
