Hi everyone!
I have been following the welding tips and tricks forum for a couple of years now. I recently ordered a welder/cutter and decided it was time to join up.
I had some welding instruction in grade 8 in my industrial arts class. That was the only time I have done welding with an acetylene torch, though I have used acetylene cutting torches since.
As a young man my dad taught me to use an arc welder (properly called an SMAW or stick welder). I built a tubular front bumper for my truck and new shock brackets to fit longer shocks.
Since then I obtained a 3rd Class Power Engineering diploma from SAIT (Southern Alberta Institute of Technology) and wrote the exams for the government license. I still keep up my 3rd Class inter-provincial license. I worked in building maintenance and boiler operations for around 12 years.
In 1996 I completed some computer training (Certified Novell Engineer) and started working full time in the computer industry.
There are several projects around the house that have been waiting for me to get my new welder. I expect this will mostly just be a hobby for me.
Take Care,
Robert Taylor
P.S. I started a Google group called Multiplaz 3500. I was unable to find a specific place to get online support for this welder so I decided to try starting one.

Welcome, Robert,
That's quite the resume'... There are some similar stories here, and...
You're in luck. One of our Canadian members has, and is a big fan of, the Multiplaz. He's studied it extensively, and will have much to share with you.
Another member did a proper industrial evaluation of the Multiplaz, and shared the entire thing here, in 14 detailed chapters, if I recall. Put the word "Multiplaz" in the search bar, and you'll get 175+ hits. Search "multiplaz + larry lee" to narrow it to the mutiplaz evaluation.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.paul_s wrote:Welcome to the forum. I too was interested in the Multiplaz and now have a link to check thanks to your post.
You will never guess what was waiting for me when I arrived home from work. I am so impressed with the whole package. The torches are actually a lot sleeker and smaller than I imagined from the pictures. That is so great!
