Hey,
I'm Olf Art aka Paul Aitchison, I'm 72 this month and I am building from scratch a custom mid-rear engine sports bodied car. The body is a combination of steel and aluminum. Consequently I am very interested in learning O/A welding Aluminum. I have welded/brazed w O/A steel and have almost learned MIG welding steel. A major problem I have is tremors, I need any tips on how to overcome this obstacle. I'd appreciate any comments.

Welcome mate.

In your best words, what is tremors???

Is the wire stubbing in the puddle, or is it burning back and globbing????

A pic might help.

Just a couple welders and a couple of big hammers and torches.

Men in dirty jeans built this country, while men in clean suits have destroyed it.

I've some problems with MIG, but by propping and using 2 hands I can lay a reasonable weld. However, O/A welding holding the torch with one hand and the filler rod with the other creates shaking of both hands. Propping and forcing myself to calm down (obviously a neural, read old age problem) helps some, but it is a very difficult situation. Surely there are other old-time welders that may have overcome similar issues.
