We did make a sharp left turn, there, didn't we?

Good discussion, though, and worth splitting into a topic! FatBob's example shows clearly why any critical welding procedure should be certified and tested for it's purpose, and those performing that weld be tested and qualified for the job.

If you're welding the deck on a bush-hog, TLAR may be sufficient. If you're welding the suspension in an Indy car, WAG is not the standard you should choose.

I should clarify those standards for the uninitiated ;) ...

TLAR = "That looks about right..."

WAG = "Wild-ass guess..."

It's all good. The split could have been a few posts sooner, but I think the point is made.

FatBob has more experience at this than either of us, from what I can tell.

I misunderstood the tools used to split. I tried to split after the first 2 posts but some how ended up like this..
