Greetings from Austin TX!

Welding has intrested me for a while now & thinking about a career path within the field. I am 24 & currently in college however really considering on a change in my schooling. I am thinking about getting an associates degree in code welding from a local community college. I am only a year from graduating with a bacheors in psychology however I do not want to work in an office the rest of my life or the big corporate world. I was going to ask if anyone could give me insight within the field & what doors an associate degree in code welding could open up!

Welcome! I'm down South in Laredo. My sister lives in Austin, and coincidentally, she has her Masters in Psychology! lol. I advise you to finish your degree in Psychology, then pursue other interests/certifications. It certainly won't hurt to have that degree under your belt as a back-up. It also opens up other doors and possibilities.

Welcome from Cali. Yeah we do brisket but we copy you! (smart people do :D)

Austin is home to Aaron Franklin, why I mention that. ;)

Thank you all for the post! I miss typed some things I have 2 years left for my degree. I agree the bachelors would open up opportunities, however a part of me knows I don’t want to do that.

Don't want to open up opportunities? "I have too much education" said no one ever. :D

Rule 1: If you start something, you finish it.

If you don't, you have nothing to show for your time which you can never get back. That's a powerful qualification, life takes strange turns and you never know how that bit of paper will help you down the track.

Once you finish it, you can pursue other dreams and taks no worries.
