Hi all.
I'm a bit of a newbie to modern welding. I used to use and old oil filled clunker to help me out of difficulties but now that I'm refurbishing my 7 ft trailer I need to use good stuff. I bought a 250 AMP DC Inverter ark welder and also have a 100 Cigweld mig gasless welder. I used to be reasonable stick welding about 25 years ago with the clunker. Then went into MIG gasless and had to relearn. Now I want to ark weld to get penetration so decided on the conversion and am glad I did. I am using 2mm square tubing as a new frame for my trailer with a 2mm plate for a floor. All is mild steel. I am using the existing sides and draw bar as they are still in good nick. I have new springs, hinges, UBolts and brackets but am using the old axle and UBolt fixing plates.I have practised a bit with my ark welder and managed one blow hole. I started reading about rods etc and heard for the first time about 6010, 6011, 6013 and 70 something or other. So I am now totally confused. do I use 6011 with circular and weld and pull, weld and pull motion as I,ll mostly weld horizontally for the framework and vertical once I have fitted the framework to the existing sides which are already in a rectangle so I just have to drop in the frame and weld them together.

So after this lengthy introduction I will gratefully appreciate some advice. Please remember I'm quit a novice so use English and not Weldish. :D
Thanks for reading to the end. Waiting in grateful anticipation.

Thanking you kindly, Roger

Hello Roger, welcome to the forum,it may be better to post a specific question in the appropriate forum. Concerning the 6011 rods please post in the Stick welding forum, you'll get a better response.
