Jody . . . . . Thank you for being out there!! You and the members have been an invaluable resource for 'pilgrims' like me at this stage of the game. After months of research into the world of welding, I have chosen the Lincoln Pro Mig 140 as the best multi-purpose machine for my needs. My experience is rather limited however, the friend of mine who introduced me to the craft was at one time an instructor and insisted on perfection. In his words, "If you're going to tell someone that I taught you how to weld, you're going to have something impressive to show for it". Believe me, I had to take the grinder to many a' bead that wasn't to his liking (started with stick then graduated to the Miller). And so, from scratch, my 7x12 utility trailer was born. I have the basics down pretty well and have a sound understanding of the principles, I just need to polish the skills and look forward to help and advise from you all for future projects before I would venture into problems (thanks to all in advance). The Lincoln I found on FB was "right place at the right time with cash in hand" purchase. However, it did not include a bottle. I watched your video last night using straight CO2. Would you recommend starting out with this method and working to perfect it or just go ahead with the 75/25? Before I spend any more éscarole' on equipment, I would appreciate any input from you or the members. I've already made a number of passes with the flux core using varied settings on scrap rebar but haven't found the 'sweet spot' yet. My primary repair project will require more than a band aid and time is of the essence. Once again, thank you!
I’m not Jody. But welcome! I’d recommend if you have the means to use 75/25 to switch. It makes for less cleanup, and it’s easier to dial in. No need to fight things when there’s a proven better way within grasp.
