Yeah, make sure the nose is big enough to get quarters out.

Jody,
Very nice gifts with a lot of thought and care behind them. Now I have a new book to read.

I love the fact that you show your perfect welds and your not so perfect welds. (Although those look pretty ok, too)
The perfectly stack dimes you see on weldporn and the like are pretty to look at and aspire to, but I learn so much more watching what works and more importantly what doesn't and why.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

More Questions for Jody

Hi Jody,
I watched your video "Making Piggy Banks". I noticed you used a device that slowly rotated the part being welded. I also picked up on your saying that you were using brazing rods rather than welding rods when fabricating the banks.

My questions are:

1. What specifically is the brazing rod (rod-number and diameter) that was used?

2. Did you use the same type rod to braze copper-legs to cast steel?

3. Where did you get the machine (where can I purchase the machine) that was used to rotate the part while welding?

Thanks,
Harold

The machine is called a welding positioner. Google should bring up places to buy. They are not cheap.

Hi Soutthpaw,

For some reason I was never notified that there was a reply to my question on 25 DEC. I thought I was to get an auto notice when someone replied to this thread but it didn't happen.

Just checked this thread and saw that you had replied. Thank you for replying to my question.

Harold,
You will only get notifies if someone quotes you or uses @hwingo in their response as far as I know.

Thanks Len. I thought that because I have a "check mark" in the box next to **Notify me when a reply is posted** that I would get auto notification when anyone posted to that thread. This is confusing to me. Perhaps I am wrong.

I've never used any of the "notify" features, expect for PMs, which works fine.

I may experiment a bit and see what does or doesn't work.
