Filler rod feeding

Hey Jody - a comment/suggestion on your tig videos:

The rate that you feed the filler rod is very difficult, if not impossible, to see. I'm wondering if you run the rod quickly thru a knurling tool it might impress a pattern that we could see as you feed.

Thanks!

Jody may read the forum (I don't know) but in all the years I've been on I can't recall him answering a post.

If you didn't feed the filler (between your fingers) but instead just held it and feed it into the puddle, that would be the feed rate. Feeding the filler just takes practice, and watching the puddle is the means to determine if your putting in enough filler for a given weld.

Every weld can be different in the amount of filler required so the welder needs to be able to adjust accordingly
