Welding Tips and Tricks

Hello everyone I am new to the forum and I have a few questions, I'm hoping you can point me in the right direction.
I own a MM175 and have done some flux core steel welding with it over the years. It has maybe 5-7 hours of use total, relatively new. I want to MIG Aluminum for a couple of projects I have planned. I've done alot of reading and I feel like I'm recreating the wheel trying to convert my 175 to be able to MIG weld aluminum. I've heard of shortening the whip, Run stiffer wire, get a spool gun and buy. New maching. I would like to be able to use my 175 but wonder if it's worth all the frustration and jury rigging only to be dissapointed with the results.
What do you recommend I do? If you suggest I buy a MIG welder for aluminum please recommend a brand and model capable of hobby and DIY work, doesn't need to be a commercial duty welder. I have 220v already wired for my 175 so a 220v machine is fine
Don't want to break the bank for project work and would rather convert my MM175 first if possible.

You don't need to buy a spool gun. The cheapest way to mig aly is to make two changes. The drive rollers need to be replaced with knurled rollers for grip and the whip liner needs to be replaced with a teflon liner. These parts should be easily available from your lws. Biggest problem with aly mig is bird nesting wire. Keep your whip straight as possible and you will be ok.
The next thing is your 175 machine is a bit small for aly work. It should have a panel chart telling you what it can do for what thickness.
