Im finishing up the welding program at my local vocational school. Our last tests are open root sch40 8" pipe. 2g, then 5 and onto 6, then i graduate! Not that jobs are everywhere but i have some im already talking to.
Today i snapped a few pics to see what you kind folks on here thought. Im using a dialarc450. It has some odd amp settings, like i set it at 130, strike an are it will read 98amps, and we'll test the machine with an amp meter and it will say 98amps. if i set at 132, it will be at 100amps. Quirky but a great machine in all. Im running my root at 98amps, and hot pass at 115amps all with 1/8th filler rod.
open root coming onto and off of my tacks
