What do you prefer, leather, cotton or hybrid(miller weld-x,indura or traditional fr). I use a cotton long sleeve shirt when I am mig or tig welding and leather when I'm stick welding.

Arc54.

For stand up fab work with wire feed I use a leather apron.

For anything out of position, a loose fitting leather jacket that reaches down past my buttocks. Rarely, but at times an old pair of chaps have come in handy too. Two fire resistant blankets always seems to help for out of position work, not so much for myself, but for other alloys within grinding range and below where spatter falls. Make sure you have a good pair of pads* too ... to save them knees.

I use SPF-50 and short-sleeves for anything but overhead MIG/Fluxcore/Stick/Arc Gouging. Then I use green "sleeve-only"s

When long sleeves are required by "safety", I wear cotton or silk dress shirts from Goodwill, with SPF-50 under.

Sometimes my workplace will reach 110*, and I'd rather have spatter burns than wear leather... ;)
