Hey guys, anybody know if it's possible to weld stainless steel to copper, and how it's done? Making a small project at home involving 1/4" s/s nuts to be welded to the end of a 3" length of 1" diam. rod.
Cheers.

You will need to silver braze the two pieces together using brush-on flux and silver wire or flux coated silver rods. Harris is the brand I commonly use. The filler is also brittle, so the joint will be strongest if the there is plenty of material overlap. i.e. copper sweat fittings

Could you use Silicon Bronze? I've welded Copper to Mild Steel with it. Not a very strong weld but might be a cheaper alternative. I'd also say you should pre heat the copper pieces.
