if you're doing a job with limited space, is it ok to stand your welder on the metal table the earth clamp is connected to?
the welder's a fronius majicwave 2200 set for tig welding

No worries. If you're concerned at all, set it on a cheap rubber "welcome" mat.

Just remember ... rubber melts and burns so standing is better than kneeling

It's a non issue providing your welder retains it's factory power cord and molded plug, AND your wall outlet and distribution panel is wired properly....INCLUDING proper earth ground rod from panel to earth.

If your welder power cord has been altered, or you doubt your shop wiring is to code, then either research it yourself or hire a qualified electrician to check it out.

MANY folks design and build their welding tables to also hold their welding machines...some on rubber wheeled casters, some not.....It's never an issue if all the above is correct.

Your biggest concern is to protect yourself from providing a path to ground....Always try to clamp machine ground directly to the work piece, and ensure the work piece is cleaned of rust and paint at the ground clamp attachment point, and wear proper shop shoes and gloves-especially when tigging and holding filler rod.
