On flap grinding discs for a mini grinder. The company just started to bring them in before they closed, so I don't have much experience at work with them. I found they leave a very nice finish, duh, sanded not ground. However using them around home, retired, they seem to load up and don't bite. I would hope they would last a little better since I have to buy them now. Am I doing something wrong? THX

Try grinding/sanding with the edge of the disc. Also try a courser grit.

There are flap wheels specifically for a given material, aluminum, stainless and steel, wheels for grinding, and for blending.
If your using a wheel designed for steel on aluminum you're not going to be happy with the result.
Whatever material your grinding on, find the wheel best suited for that material
