General welding questions that dont fit in TIG, MIG, Stick, or Certification etc.

I was sitting in the local watering hole one evening years ago, when a friend of mine walked in with a bandage in the space where his ring finger used to be. He was wearing his wedding ring while he plied his trade as a mechanic at the local Peterbilt house. Seems he'd dropped a wrench between the battery box and frame on a tractor and as he reached for it, his ring completed the circuit between the + terminal of the 24 volt battery bank and the grounded frame. The vaporizing ring amputated his finger instantly and cauterized it at the same time. He said it didn't bleed a drop.

I wear no rings at all when I'm working or any other time. Don't even own any. It's safer that way.
