I have access to a mm251 at school and the instructor wants some work done to his aluminum snowmachine trailer. the mm251 has a mig gun-2 prong style plug and the spoolgun-plug is the larger one.(two different plugs altogether) the only spoolgun I have is the spoolmate 100 with my mm211. my question is will the spoolmate 100 work on the mm251 or should I drag my welder to school?

thanks in advace!

Look inside the wire spool cover of the mm251... There should be a 7-pin socket for your spool gun.

[EDIT] It could be a four-pin...
There's a hookup in there somewhere, as the 251 should be spool-gun ready, unless it's old.

wow great information. thank you for the chart! I will take a good look tomorrow and see if I find the pin. I haven't looked the machine over just glanced at once.
thanks again!

I wasn't able to find an adapter plug in this machine. I think if I plug the 4 pin spoolmate 100 plug into the mig gun port on the 251 and it turns the roller on the spool gun then it'll work. It'll just also turn the roller on the machine at the same time. any thoughts or suggestions?

Well, hell,

Since you have a spool-gun connection right on the front, there should be an adapter cable available for a direct hookup for your Spoolmate 100.

With that last picture, you'll probably get some solid information now.

I will research it some tonight. I could not find any kind of adapter in the machine. if they are inexpensive then I'll just buy one. I will update this thread when I figure it out.

quick search on google and I found this. its a little more spendy than I thought haha!

Once I plug all this in and start welding.. the duty cycle of the gun is only like 20% therefore I need to take it easy so as to not overwork the gun right? other than that it should work fine.

I just noticed that I need the adapter that is opposite of this one. the 10pin needs to ne male and the 4 a female.

I can't seem to find one online. if anyone could possibly share a link that would be great.
