I am looking at buying a low end for our shop. All units I am looking at have a speed range of 2-10 or 20 rpm.

Do you guys think that the 2 rpm at the low end with still be too fast?

it depends on the diameter of what your welding, the larger the diameter the slower you need to go, also if the motor doesn't have enough torque the speed won't be consistent.

What is your budget for this?

I have just been looking at the $3-400 CDN units. Not req'd often but handy to have. Small stuff only.
