Re: Bracket frabrication suggestions needed
You are correct, it's a Paramotor frame that I've been building. Most of the tanks on production frames are molded to fit the frame and the frame actually encases the tank. For this frame however, the plans leave it up to the builder since the tank configuration is unknown. I have an account with Mc...

Bracket frabrication suggestions needed
I need some suggestions on how to weld a bracket for a fuel tank. It's hard to tell from the pictures below (I'll take more tonight) so I'll try to describe what I'm trying to do. The fuel tank has an odd mounting pad with three 1/8" raised discs used as indexing pins, the center pin has an int...

AHP Alpha TIG On Sale
Amazon has the 2016 AHP AlphaTIG 200X on sale for $680 + $30 shipping! That's $120 less than what I paid and a great deal, thought I'd pass it along if anyone was in the market.
Not sure how long it will last though.

Re: First TIG, questions from a Mig guy
End grinder air or electric. Everyone has a 4-1/4 in grinder but you will use an end grinder almost as much once you have one. And a portaban saw. I have a pneumatic right angle grinder but not sure what you mean by "end grinder" are you talking about a tungsten sharpener? I've had my eye...

Re: How do you value a used machine?
It's a small 20cf bottle. I talked to the AirGas shop by my house and they sell those for $80. Like you said though, they'll give me $80 for trade in if I upgrade to a bigger bottle so I priced the MIG with and without the bottle.

Re: First TIG, questions from a Mig guy
Southpaw, your review of this machine pushed me over the edge to buy. Thank you for the detailed review, I do appreciate it. It's good to see that the company is listening to reviewers. I have an AirGas store here by my work and have been changing my bottles and supplies out with them for a while, b...

Re: First TIG, questions from a Mig guy
Just placed the order last night so good to know the torch has been upgraded! Looks like the regulator has been updated as well? Not sure why my last reply didn't post but thanks for the suggestions guys. I do like the idea of the stubby gas lens so I may look into that. will post pics and settings ...

First TIG, questions from a Mig guy
Hi all, Got a new TIG on order and obviously I'll need consumables, a bottle, stand, and gas but being a long time MIG and stick welder and new to TIG was wondering what else the "Need to have" and Nice to have" items are? Is there some sort of getting started list or guide available?...

Re: Cutting Aluminium Sheet
What about a throttles shear? We used to use those in the Airforce (a while back for me) but they did a good job of cutting straight and contoured cuts. Not as fast as a saw but you'll only get straight cuts with a circular saw.

Thanks guys,
Didn't even consider the cost of the bottle being as much as it is. Got a good idea now, I appreciate it.

How do you value a used machine?
Hi all, I'm looking to upgrade my equipment and to make the wallet hurt a little less I'd like to sell what I currently have. Unfortunately I really don't know what to ask for it. I have an older Hobart Handler 175 that's seen light to moderate use. It has a nice stand that I built with it and bottl...

Re: Hello from Northern KY
Thanks Troy, I was looking at the Everest as well as the AHP Alpha TIG which I can afford now, but, I'd prefer to spend the money to get a good machine that will last quite a while and am thinking about saving for the HTP Invertig 221. It's 3X+ the cost but you do get what you pay for. Still researc...

Re: Hello from Northern KY
Thanks for the welcome, Hadn't even heard of a water cooled torch so learned something already! Has anyone heard of Eastwood's welders? I buy a lot of their buffing and polishing supplies and noticed that their welders are very reasonably priced, couldn't find too much in the way of reviews searchin...

Hello from Northern KY
Hi everyone, Been a hobbyist welder for many years using a Hobart Handler 175 and a subscriber to Jody's videos on YouTube. My welding sucks! So, I've come here to ask questions and hopefully learn a bit more. I'm self taught so I'm sure I have a lot of bad habits. I'm looking to start welding Alumi...
