Thanks for the replies, Guys. I guess I'll just use the gas rod for running practice welds, as I can't see myself going back to OA welding, and I'm too much of a cheapskate to throw it out. I'll get some er70-s2 for my real projects "just in case". I would still like to know why it shouldn...

I have a HH 175, and have been using it as my only MIG welder for maybe 10 years. It works well, and I have used it on everything from auto body sheet metal, to multi pass 1/2" thick hot rolled steel, with no problem. I did try unsuccessfully to weld aluminum with it. I even replaced the liner ...
