The etched picture seems to show a weld "nugget" with penetration into the base metal. Am I misreading this photo or was a weld etched sample put in video by mistake? Or does the braze metal etch like that.

Washing over mig weld with tig

Working on customer built roll cage that was mig welded but he had a lot of starts on each weld and it doesn't look great. I would like to grind the majority of the weld down and then put a tig pass over the top. Would that be OK. I sure don't want to have to remove and replace the tubes. Any sugges...

I have seen a lot of race car related aluminum welds on thin material where the weld bead seems very wide or large , however burn through on the back side is non existent. Specifically on pit pal products ( utility trays and the like from 16 gage). How do they accomplish this. I would normally use w...
