Re: Optrel Panoramaxx
Yikes. $400 is a little too much for me. My e684 it is. :) Sales rep dropped past with some to demo. What is striking about the 684 is the color reproduction. I was blown away how good it looked when used with tig. After that a little dissapointed with the Panoramaxx. Yes field of view is amazing, ...

The plain bearing is a miracle of engineering when you consider how it works and the load it takes, doesn't take much grit to root that all to hell.

Re: That's not a bandsaw!
It was $300 and he threw in a massive block and tackle. Was his dads who passed away a few years ago. His mum just passed and it was time to clear out the shed and sell off the gear. Plenty of bandsaws show up around that price but generally not as big or in as good condition. I have the belt/pulley...

That's not a bandsaw!
THIS is a bandsaw... Well possibly, or perhaps a modified and re-purposed foam cutter. Either way it has variable speed via the pullies to go slow enough for what I want and also has a nice guide setup on it. Mainly just needed it for cutting curvy stuff out of 3mm aluminium and it works beautifully...

Re: Aussie Mig advice, please!
SA is where I found a 100kg Peter Wright anvil for about $700 I think. That almost new 355 amp EWM synergic pulse mig came from SA too. I think I paid $2500. Retail on that was at least 6k from memory. The plus side of SA is that its a buyers market. Both items above would have been wayyyy more had ...

I made a tank out of .9mm copper for my cooler. Used the goofy big 26 air cooled that came with the welder. If there was one project that could have used the the little CK water cooled torch it was that one.

I'm with Ozflo on this. I'd save for what you want or check out the used market for something suitable Not much good to you as the freight would kill it as its a heavy as f#$k transformer machine. But I'm about to sell off my BOC (Kemppi Model) 250R. Has a remote feeder, is 250amps, can spray transf...

"thats how we've always done it" Once dodgy connection and the whole truss unzips. How many engineers went through the plans for this? The one below re the cantilever transfer beam not reaching out far enough to get under the 5 storey load its suppose to carry is pretty scary. The cantilev...

Can a 10th Rank Black-belt Jedi tell me why the forum width are so narrow. Didn't believe it till I read it. I don't begrudge them wanting to make money. That should be their primary focus, however how did they come to the figure of $399US per year? Are they insane, wish I was a fly on the wall during that meeting. I would certainly pay based on data and bandwidth but give...

Re: Flux Core Welding
I've never done it but about to. Its not the polarity is it. Flux core is run in DCEN. Normal mig runs in DCEP.
Sounds like DCEP, too much heat going into the material and blowing holes or cooking it. Probably other reasons but easy to rule out the simpler ones first.

Re: Is this flux core wire suitable?
I have 1.2 rollers but can take them back and swap them I think. I could keep them and use something like your Cigweld suggestion or go to self shielded and swap the rollers for 1.6 In your experience if not welding outside, occasionally welding less than clean steel and most of the time out of posi...

Re: Is this flux core wire suitable?
That's a point I completely overlooked, fumes. Chromium fumes would be nasty I imagine. I don't have a respirator. The only reason I wanted flux core was to hopefully get some nicer welds, something closer to spray transfer but on vertical etc. Also better when I need it outside (self shielded). Sta...

Re: Is this flux core wire suitable?
Rollers arent too much of a problem, got a call back today regarding them, only issue is the ridiculous price. But I got some flux core rollers in .045 and a set for solid wire in .035 Main thing I'm curious about is that wire in the link. Its Ni Cro Mo flux core. Local supplier said that mix of wir...

Is this flux core wire suitable?
I finally got my 3 phase installed a few days ago and running really nice aluminium beads on the new machine. I do however want to get drive rollers for standard mig wire as well as flux core, and the latter only because I've never done it. While I was looking around I came across this https://www.g...

Re: tig cooler observations
They are pretty simple devices. Though there's a limited market, can't imagine they sell that many. Then again there is time. I assemble my own with a refurb Procon, a new motor, radiator and fan out of an old Zip chilled water unit and I tig'd up a copper tank. Cheapish with all new/refurb parts pr...

Re: Review for TIG Button hand amptrol for HTP Invertig 221
I looked into making something like this a while back. But the only way I could figure it is to use a pressure sensor, make it a little hardier with a puck or button and heatshrink and hook it up to an arduino back near the machine then have the arduino read the sensor and control a variable resisto...

My theory is buy your helmet from a specialised manufacturer. Re: NO MORE Lincoln Viking helmets for me
My 3350 went through the first battery in 6 months or so I think. I think its meant for sit down workbench welding which is primarily where I use mine. Everything else I use my BOSS brand (cheapo <$100) helmet. I wouldn't want to weld overhead in the Lincoln either. If I had my time over I would hav...

Re: Which chopsaw or Bandsaw would you get?
I bought a 14" Slugger dry cut saw. It had the best clamping system of the saws available here. That was the main prerequisite, it had to have a good clamp and accurate miters, well reasonable ones in any case. I had years ago a chop saw and sold it. I then had a cheap bandsaw, very accurate no...

Re: Why are my aluminum welds turning out like this?
Also looks like the good weld is concave and probably with good penetration into the root, whilst the others looks a bit overfilled again probably because the longer arc gap means you have to sweep wider from toe to toe and fill more as the tungsten isn't getting right into that root.
