When you get close to an edge you need to back off on the pedal. Pay close attention to the width of the bead and when it starts getting wider back off on the heat. So I am a Newbie too; so this is like a 2nd grader explaining Algebra to a 1st grader but here are some things that I have done that helped. 1. Gordian, you didn't mention a foot pedal. Are you using one? If not then that's going to make it harder for you to learn. Practice will make you better. You can't practice too much. Help with aluminum tig welding
I just picked up a Miller Diversion 180.Ive never welded before.Im trying to weld aluminum tubing.When I try to weld two pieces I blow holes into tubing.When I weld on tubing surface itself I do ok for first timer. Hello all I'm new to welding.I recently picked up a Miller diversion 180.Im mostly going to use it to work on my own race car since friend who use to weld for me moved to Florida.Ive done stick welding but that was over 15 years ago.
