Is SPARKIE1957 from Weldingweb on here ?
Hello Everyone,
An email to the management of Weldingweb advises that there is no longer a forwarding email contact for the WW Admin contact person, so I was curoius if Sparkie1957 is active on this fine site? Had a few questions about his welder restorations is all. Thanks for your time.

Northern California TIG brazing help needed
Hello, Awhile back I asked Steve/OttoNobetter if it was ok to seek help from the membership with a personal project, and he said it was fine. I am looking for someone who is very skilled with TIG brazing on cast iron, and lives somewhere between Auburn, Ca and the greater San Francisco Bay Area . I ...

EB,
I sent you a PM. You have a relatively rare swivel base Paramo there. Weighs about 105# as she sits, and is most likely made well before 1950.

Re: Health concerns preventing me from pursuing welding
You are young enough to postpone (or part time pursue) school......an opportunity like this is not a frequent occurrence nowadays......get on it.....school can wait, or be scaled back.

Re: Health concerns preventing me from pursuing welding
I just looked at your topic again as I had a monster busy work week. That shop looks amazing. If they have been in business since 1975 and have such a backround....SPRINT, don't run over there, and DO IT. If it's 2 miles from home, you could save major expenses without a commute. Show up early, leav...

Re: Health concerns preventing me from pursuing welding
If that welding opportunity is relatively close to where you presently live, jump on it ! Yes you may start with a broom, but you can certainly move up. It's exactly what you need to see if it's truly your passion. If it pays equal or more than your retail gig, why not go for it ? Is it possible to ...

Hello Stickweld, I am pretty sure your topic should be posted under the General Welding or Education sections. I was ready to jump in with a respomse, but I believe administration will soon recategorize this. It's not a big deal, but your questions will certainly get more views in the proper categor...

I thought I would add the incredible Chenier's Practical Math Dictionary, and it's companion, Chenier's Practical Math Application Guide. They both are super, going from the basics of math and going through to ever aspect of practical math for all of the trades.....using levels, measuring tools,layou...

Hello Members, I have been busy with work and just logged in to catch up on my WT&T fix. From day one, this fine site has been the cream of the crop. I'm still amazed, but not suprised. The quality of people associated with this gem, from Jody at the top, to all of his elves (moderators) is just...

Re: Help to minimize additional work
Have you looked at the JetEdge mobile water jet cutting system. I found them online. It sounds right up your alley. The machine has to be cheaper than paying day wages on 30-40 people, plus all of the related cleanup and damage control. We have had carbon arc done at my place of employment on 2 of o...

UV, Awesome information there ! I thank you. You are certainly correct on the DeWalts. I have one at my workplace and it's about 12 years old. The other day our young whipper snapper of Deckhand found me and said it's shorted out and won't work. I took it apart and found the factory original connect...

Re: What is the most comfortable head gear for the pipeliner
I was reading this thread and just thought if anyone is in a pinch for surgical tubing, most any store now carries those exercise resistance band deals with the handles (sporting goods, guality drug stores, etc) in the areas with food supplements. You can ditch the handles and use the tubing. It's a...

Scored a gem off of CL
This afternoon I picked up an 1984 Miller Thunderbolt AC/DC welder. It came with 20 foot leads and a very high quality aftermarket (older) ground clamp. It welds fantastic and it is about a 9 out of 10 in overall condition. The labels and original markings are great, original warning cards in good s...
