No sir. The Welding area was far enough away from any seals that I didn't have to worry about it much. Although I was still cautious only welding a little at a time to keep from getting to hot. Alot of carbon type stuff seemed to burn from the cast aluminum. I would stop clean and weld again. I did ...

I have a Miller Dynasty 280 DX. It sometimes arcs from over 1/2" out. This is without pushing on the pedal much.

Well I broke my anti cavitation plate pulling my lower unit off to change the water pump...left a bolt in on underside up anode (imagine that). And I've changed them many times. Thanks. I know I have a ways to go. On this particular weld i had some scrap that I cut then just wire brushed it and wiped with acetone.

New to Forum

Hello All! My name is Travis from Texas, live approximately 70 miles West of Houston. I see alot of great projects on here! I am learning to Tig weld now and eventually want to get into welding aluminum for recreational marine applications. Just wanted to introduce myself and say Hello. :)
