Re: Change torch on new Everlast 250

I swapped mine out for a WP 20. I also built a cooler for it. I haven't used an air cooled torch but I did use my 20 for a while before I built the cooler and it would get hot enough that I would have to take a break and let it cool down. Then I went and over did it and burned up the power cable. Th...

Re: Everlast 225 LX

Are they offering you a new 250 EX at the 225 LX price when it comes in?

For me that would be very tempting as I wish the LX had a couple of it's features.

Re: Everlast 225 LX

It could very well be the HF gap. I had to reset mine as well as move a feed wire away from the HF coil. Also, check that the pot in the foot pedal is moving right in relation to the rack as the pedal is pushed down. Seems to be a common issue to have to tweak the adjustments on the pedal to get smo...

Re: Everlast Power Pro 256

I have a WP 20 on my 225LX and it's great. Although it doesn't have a button on it. If I'm not mistaken I think Everlast is either making one or has one that you can purchase that will Velcro onto the torch. Here's the list of hook up parts I used to hook it up including cooler and gas fittings. htt...

Re: My DIY Tig Water Cooler

Tonight I finally got the new power cable for my WP20 and was able to get some real testing for my cooler as I'm pretty sure the water passages in it are smaller than the Everlast torch. First was the flow tests. I don't have a flow meter so all I could do was watch the return line and monitor the f...

Re: My DIY Tig Water Cooler

I'm using RV antifreeze that I had left over from last winters winterizing of the motor home. I wondered for a long time about a smaller pump and read many mixed reviews about people using aquarium pumps but didn't want to take the gamble. It flows pretty good through the big Everlast torch but I' t...

Re: My DIY Tig Water Cooler

I don't do a lot of welding and what I do is mostly light work. My hope is that the quantity of coolant is enough to keep the temps reasonable but I will keep an eye on and have left enough room on the cart and in the hose to add a heat exchange system if it turns I'm wrong.

My DIY Tig Water Cooler

I finally got all the parts to build my cooler. I had ordered the quick connects for the lines some time ago but even with those I think the entire build cost with everything was less than $200. The tank is a go kart fuel tank that holds 7 quarts. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&it...

Re: Soap stone????????

I have to admit that I've never heard of silver streak before.

Then again I'm only a hobbyist type welder so why would I?

I'll definitely look into it. Is it something that is usually available at a local welding shop or best ordered on line?

Re: Soap stone????????

I have seen it at the local suppliers just didn't know if it was worth it or what it was for.

Does it need to be cleaned off prior to welding or can you use it as a guide and and weld over it.

Can you see the line made with soap stone through a darkened hood?

Re: Do I really need a pluse rate over 20pps

While I'd like to have that feature for me I really couldn't justify it when I decided which one to get. Most of what I do is on steel. Steve's right about 20 pps being a pain. However, I have had no problem getting done everything I wanted to try. Think about not only what you plan on doing now but...

Re: Need some tips with tubing

I have the same types of projects coming up and think it would be great if Jody could do some videos on welding small OD thin wall tubes.

Be nice to see what it's supposed to look like through the hood so I know what I should be looking for when I start to practice.

Re: Everalst 250EX - Arrived

I have the 225LX an aside from 1 little quirk it has been great. The only issue I had was with the HF start and we were able to take care of that via phone support. There tech support is great. I wasn't happy with the supplied torch either and as such I adapted up a WP 20 weld craft torch. I just re...

Are you grinding on a dedicated grinder?

I also found when I started that I was grinding the angle all wrong. It does make a difference.

Welcome

I'm a drag racer my self. I got a tig a couple months ago and have been teaching my self. It's by far some of the most fun I've had in trying to make things for the cars.

A lot of knowledgeable people here so don't hesitate to ask any questions.

Re: everlast welding equipment

I have a 225 LX and have been quite happy with it. About the only wish I have about it is the pulse. The 225 only goes up to 25 pulses per second while the 250 EX has much more pulse capability. I'm a newbie and teaching my self how to tig with nothing more than Jody's videos and these forums for gu...
