Re: Carbon Steel
Sorry... I am welding 1/4" plate. The reason I switched to 5/32 because I thought my tungsten was melting away... I had touched the puddle a few times and actually think now that it could have been the problem all along. I have attached some pictures of the tungsten and one of the welds. I made...

tight fit aluminum 6063 tig weld
Jedi-weldmasters, Thank you for reading my post. I am having trouble with welding the inside of these mitered channels. Firstly, I don’t have much space to move with the jig attached, so I am looking just to tack it with some filler. When I try with the filler, only one side of the joint gets the fi...

Re: Aluminum 6063
I doubt it is the torch, because it's less than a week old... Had to replace the old torch as it was leaking. The torch is hooked up to a chiller. I tested for high frequency by placing the ground far from the piece and putting the electrode close to the piece and I did see sparks. High frequency pa...

Re: Aluminum 6063
I hear and feel the gas coming out of the cup. The gas comes out strong initially then tapers down without me touching the pedal. Is this normal?

Re: Aluminum 6063
Thank you all for the great advice; this forum is amazing! Yes, I have 3/32" zirconiated tungsten (rookie mistake)... By the sound of everyones comments - I have to focus on the gas.... I have checked for leaks at all of the connections, but have found nothing. I feel the argon coming out the t...
