Re: Help a Genius Assemble his AlphaTIG Torch

each size tungsten has a specific collet body size so if you change the tungsten size you have to change the collet and the body https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51vUYnWLQPL.jpg also the paint on the end of the tungsten can be to large if trying to slide in from the open end Kevin

Re: Tig Aluminum Bronze

Looks awesome

One way to Keep heat in it is to Elevate it off the welding table and clamp your ground right to the block

Re: Tig Aluminum Bronze

You have to Preheat the aluminum bronze before welding when your dipping you need to have the torch pointed away from the filler rod or the rod will melt before you dip think of how you weld aluminum but with a lot more heat you might want to even try Helium instead of argon my personal opinion is u...

I use it allot in fixing Plastic injection Molds
we use is as a wear surface or a Crush surface
Not sure what else you would use it for
other than making your welds look sexy

Re: Welding Tungstencarbide?

Tungsten Carbide components are not weldable in the ordinary sense. As others have said, they can be brazed, with silver solders. Tungsten Carbide is actually a mixture of cobalt and tungsten carbide, a metal matrix composite, with cobalt acting as a 'glue' to hold the carbide particles together. Li...

I tried that today, welded two small bars together, heated until just blue then let it air cool. Quite tough, but did break at the same place, perhaps 1mm outside the weld. I'll post some photos over the weekend. Part of the heat treating process you might have to after heating it blue you have to ...
