I did it to my Miller Diversion 180. 20 torch with super flex 25' hoses and a home made cooler using a vending machine cooling pump and tank from e-bay. Added a Jattus Tig Perfect pulser and a Smith Equipment Argon/Helium mixer from e-bay.
I am not nearly as good a welder as it is

Re: Another Homebuilt TIG Torch Cooler
I built mine using a Procon carbonator from E-Bay. Came with pump-motor and 2 gallon stainless tank. pretty simple to plumb it up. I use a return bypass line with a valve to regulate the pressure to 50 psi. It was not very expensive. Nice and quiet. My Diversion 180 cooling fan is way noisier.

Re: Welding A freeze crack in a small aluminum water pump
Thanks guys! Your willingness to help a old retired hobby welder is surely appreciated. Thanks to Jody for providing this amazing forum!! It will probably be a week or so before the 5183 rod arrives so I will be quiet about this project for a while. Just one more question I haven't gotten a answer t...

Re: Welding A freeze crack in a small aluminum water pump
Kym,
I have located some 1/16" 5183 rod. Hard stuff to find especially in one pound lots but Welding Supply.Com had some and sold me a pound for $15.00 plus shipping. Not bad! I have 5356 also 1/16". What am I going to find different between the two? I may try the pulser also.

Wipe the area you are going to weld with Acetone--next brush it with a stainless steel brush well then wipe again with acetone. Try that.

Re: Welding A freeze crack in a small aluminum water pump
Rick, Can you explain a little more what you mean by peening. I am going to V the crack before welding. The crack is not open its just a freeze crack in a round pump housing maybe 12" in diameter that leaks bad when running. Its shaped like a bowl or half of a basketball. I'm not home now so I ...

Moto,
Yes- that helps a LOT! Thanks !!
We are going to have to cut our RV outing short and go home today as our Yorkie is not feeling well and will go to the Vets when we get home. I will try what I have learned here then. Thanks all of you for the help. I love this place !!

Re: Water cooled torch for Lincoln square wave 200
A little bit off the subject but I converted my Miller Diversion 180 to a 25' water cooled flex head WP 20 torch and am using a E-Bay Procon carbonator tank and pump. Not really too hard to setup the Procon. Its very quiet running at 50 psi. Converting the welder was not too difficult. I'm the kind ...

Something I forgot to mention. I have a Tig Perfect Pulser I have not yet gotten familiar with how to set it up properly. The instructions are evidently written for someone that has a very good understanding of the techinical terms used for pulse setup. That is not me. I don't understand the termino...

If they are visible when you dress for a job interview you will NOT be high on the hire list. Just how it is.

Re: Welding A freeze crack in a small aluminum water pump
Thanks guys. I have most everything mentioned to get it done. I have a Dremel and small rotary files I plan to use to V the crack out. KYM-I will check with my local welding supply store and see if they have a 1 pound tube of the rod you mentioned. Can't have too many options. Off the 16th for a wee...

I am a retired hobby welder (old construction crane operator / heavy duty mechanic) with a Diversion 180 I converted to a WP 20 flex/water cooled torch. Electric tungsten sharpener recommendations.
Hello again guys. I just about have all the things accumulated to say I have what I want to be setup to start aluminum tig practice with my Division 180. I swapped the #9 torch for a # 20 and have built a cooler using a Procon pump and a 4 gallon tank I welded up out of aluminum. 2 gallons of water ...

Re: TIG With Aging Hands - Is Water Cooling Worth it?
I have been using city water to cool my 20 torch for the last 10 + years with no problems. The only down side is my shop is not heated unless I am going to be in it so I have to drain the water from the torch line so it doesn't freeze in the winter. I am currently building a aluminum 4 gallon tank t...

Otto, I am aware of the PM function on the forum. Way above my pay grade for a 76 year old guy. He sent me a traditional e-mai...

I don't have a manual so I don't know if it is like anything in the manual. It is identified as "Conversion Chart Mixer Model # 299-006-1B. For example it says for a 25% Helium mix the mix setting should be 9.2. For a 50% mix the setting should be 23.2. Send me your e-mail address if you want a...
