This guy-Steve that is. Welding in and on trailers. That man can weld anything anywhere. I know I've seen some stuff of his where he is welding like 1 inch pipe that is buried with 10 other pipes and doing it with a mirror usin the foot pedal with his knee, wearing sunglasses basically and sunscree...

Tungsten sharpener from eBay
I just found this on eBay. Has anyone used it? It can sharpen 1/8", 3/32" and 1/16". It can fit a Dremel, Black & Decker and Milwaukee rotary tool. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Scottsman-Tungsten-Electrode-Sharpener-Attachment-Kit-For-Grinders/162251621779?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m185...

New classes in Hammond, La. (Northshore Tech CC)
Enrollment for new classes for AWS is open at Northshore Tech in Hammond. These are night classes (so it shouldn't interfere too much with day jobs). The instructor is CWI and CWE certified and a retired welder (25+ years). He's good, patient and loves to share his experience. Northshore Tech. Conta...

There is now a job available in Slidell. The company is Elite Cryogenics, and is where I work. They have opted to hire through a staffing agency, "Treo", but if you have the right qualifications I might be able to get you a direct-hire interview. The most basic requirements are TIG on SS ...

Yes, I'm OCD when it comes to my tungsten sizes.

I just picked up another CK 20 torch, when I found a local who's company has a mandated time change interval on their torches. I couldn't resist when offered a 25' set of superflex hoses for $30. Despite trying to keep my equipment safe and protected, but you never know what will happen when you ar...

Re: SMAW class cancelled due to low registration.
That was how my class started. Safety lecture>O/A torch instruction (so you can cut your own coupons)> brief machine introduction>start welding. It isn't a bad way to teach a craft that is "hands on". As long as the instructor can weld and knows how to pass a weld test (and having a CWI ce...

Reading a blue print and WPS w/PQR
I have watched almost every video Jody has made and I know he hasn't made one about weld symbols, blue prints and WPS.
It could be a multi-part or a refresher type video.

Re: SMAW class cancelled due to low registration.
The AWS website lists lots of classes and schools, everywhere. Even if the local school doesn't have the schedule you need, you might be able to talk to the instructor about after hours or side lessons. You might be able to contact a local high school that has a shop class that teaches welding and t...

Re: The what I welded today (/whenever) thread (pics please)
This isn't even close to the work others have posted here, but I am proud of it none the less. It's the last one for quite a while. We made 3 test articles, 4 for qualifying and 4 for flight. 12 welds each at 110" each weld.
Bitter sweet as it is, it was good to say "Finished!"
