Gas problem..

Hi, After struggling with a MIG problem, It looks like the root of the problem is the gas.. I'm using C2 for SS welding.. 0.030 , 316L. When I push the trigger, the wire slowly burn and drop, with a lot of soot.. After trying many different setting, with no luck at all, I took my autoweld bottle, ho...

Re: Filler rod for 409SS / 304SS

For some clarification, I'm doing custom downpipe in 409SS but all the flex used are in 304SS as well as
the vband, so that's explain the 2 differents material.

thanks,
Marc

Filler rod for 409SS / 304SS

Hi,

I wondering what would be the best filler rod to joint T304SS tubing with T409SS. Tubing are used in
exhaust system, so a lot of heat are involved.

thanks,
Marc

Re: TIG welding shock absorber

Thanks guys for the inputs.. Actually it's a generic photo i took from Google.. I'll perform this modification on a rear car shock that looks almost the same. I will machine a small tube to get the rod 2" longer, to allow the shock to operate in the optimal condition while the bracket on the ca...

TIG welding shock absorber

Hi, I want to know if anyone has experience at welding on gas shock absorber. I need to cut and weld a new part ( located in the red circle, on the picture ). Is there any danger ? If I put the ground clamp close to where i will weld.. I just want to keep my garage in the same zipcode ;) thanks, Marc

Motox,

I agree with you, but I don't understand this kind of answer.. I try to be clear, with all the details I can, to avoid confusion and get the most 'directed' answer..

Aluminized exhaust pipe...

Well, After reading a bunch of bad things about TIG welding aluminized exhaust pipe, I decided to give it a try. Bare with me about the welding, I'm at the wheel since a few weeks only.. From what I see, it turned out ok.. Just a quick scotch bright and no filler, just fused the pipe.. I used 1/16 T...

Re: After the first day...

Thanks !, yes it's getting better.. I tried to practice each day at least one hour.. I have time to time a problem that I can't pin point.. On a lap join, as example, I get a "C" shape puddle.. As Jody say, I check the 3 things, and it keep coming back.. I try to tight the arc as much as I...

Re: Aluminium, arc wandering at startup

A little update, no pictures yet.. I've been able to mostly fix the arc wandering by hitting the pedal to get high amperage at start up and mostly form the puddle withing 3ish second, so that's an improvement.. but, the cleaning band is still large.. I tried to tight the arc as much as i can, but st...

Aluminium, arc wandering at startup

Hi, I give a first try to aluminum today.. Clean with an SS brush and acetone. I'm using 3/32 2% lanth that I balled. Balance is at 35% I have an Everlast that work backwards.( so 65% ), 120hz. And when I hit the pedal, the arc is unstable and moving around the tip until the puddle is created. After...

An other welding cart, heavy duty

Hi,

Here's my new welding cart.. I took the base idea on an other forum, and adapt it to my needs.. The free
space at the bottom will be for the tig cooler.. Only the wheels and the drawer slides has been bought..

cheers,

After the first day...

Hi,

After a few hours playing with my new TIG, I tried a lap join. Here's the condition. Plate are 1/8". Cup #6, 3/32 2% Lanth, filler rod is 1/16" E70S-2, 140 amps with foot pedal control and 17 cfh for Argon.

I would like some input..

TIG is an Everlast 200DX.

thanks,
Marc
