Re: Anyone use ER80S-D2 to weld 4130 Chromoly with?

ER70-S2 gives better elongation than ER80-D2. Most chassis builders in open wheel use ER70-S2 allows chassis to deform more as car takes multiple hits from flipping. Some do use ER80 either for certain areas or whole car. Your case either one will work just fine. don't burn up the metal and don't f...

Re: Anyone use ER80S-D2 to weld 4130 Chromoly with?

It's only .083" wall Lot's of great stuff here I never thought of... Like the welding on cold tube... My shop never gets below 50 because I leave the heat set there.... Even if the tube is say 40 deg. F would it be worth it the warm the material with a torch slightly first? Or is that not cold ...

Anyone use ER80S-D2 to weld 4130 Chromoly with?

Going to weld in a parachute bar in my "street outlaws" Turbo charged CHevelle... Lol Anyone used this E80S-D2 on 4130 ? How does it weld? So far I have read NOT to use 4130 rod unless you are heat treating the part afterward... This is the best info I have found below.. A. Although there ...

At what PSI do you change your bottle?

My Argon is down to about 200 psi and it seems like when I was welding aluminum last night with the same 20 CFH that it didn't have enough gas.
Do you guys keep turning up the flowmeter or at what point do you go get the bottle filled?

Re: HTP Arcitc Chill 5460 LOUD fan, convert to Electric fan?

Update! Well I ordered a 220VAC 6" fan that was rated at 240 CFM I ran the pump with no fan (once I unbolted the mechanical fan) (Left hand thread bolt BTW) and most of the noise is from the pump... its still loud...but not bad.. I then installed the 240 CFM electric fan and started running 90 ...

Re: Tig Welding Mild Steel Sheet Metal

Wow, sorry guys! I had a section of a autobody patch pannel left over from my chevelle, that I was told online was 18 gauge. I measured it with the calipers the other day and it was .035" (before I started practicing with it since it is left over scrap) so that is what I though the thickness of...

Pulse settings for 1/8" aluminum?

I want to try pulsing some Aluminum... the HTP manual for the quick start set up just says to set the AC Hz at 200 Hz.. Anybody have any other sugestions for pulse? 3/32" Tungsten sharpened to a point... On Time..background current... PPS,.. balance,..etc on 1/8" flat bar 6061 lap and fill...

Looks like Everlast buys their cooler from the same manufacture that HTP and Nu-Tec do. LOL

I would buy from HTP though so you get the CK torch with CK superflex hose!

Re: Tig Welding Mild Steel Sheet Metal

Check out my post below on welding .065 inch 16 gauge mild steel tube.. The Pulse settings that Brian recommended really helped me... Also remember 18 gauge is half the thickness of 16 gauge you need to use .035 inch or .040 inch filler rod and a 1/16 inch tungsten max....if you don't want to worp i...

Do you weave your torch?

Whenever I watch Jody's vids it looks like he just runs the torch straight along and dips the rod.... I came from a old job were everyone used the 'lay wire" technique and would weave the torch back and forth free hand never removing the rod from the puddle... I like the dipping to make my weld...

Nope works fine on the coolmate. Maybe the cooler has a pressure sensor for the alar...

Re: Pulse setting sugestions for .065" steel?

The rule of 33 I'm sure is great if you have a machine that will do high speed pulse ( but many imports don't go over epileptic 10 PPS sadly ) & need to control heat on thin material - I do think slow ( like 1PPS or less ) helps newbies keep pace with the filler & is good so as not to overh...

HTP Arcitc Chill 5460 LOUD fan, convert to Electric fan?

I had to extend my 25' torch the full distance away from the welder just to be able to hear the gas shut off on my torch.. I have been wondering about...
