Arc welding cast iron with stainless steel rods?
Hey guys! I have to do a couple of repairs on some cast iron parts, and I just wanted to know what stainless steel stick electrode would work the best for my application? I'm welding a couple of spindles for the front end suspension on an older Honda. Any feed back appreciated, thanks.

Re: Tig welding cast iron? Is it possible?
Of course it's possible depending on the part and filler options you have or if willing to buy the needed fillers. Can you post pics of part and damage needing repair. The more details you can give us about part the better. Also is it exposed to high heat cycling and stress, is it just cosmetic rep...

Tig welding cast iron? Is it possible?
Hey guys! I've got a customer who needs a cast iron part welded, and I wanted to know if would be able to tig weld it? Or if I would need to pull out the trusty buzz box! If I would be able to tig weld it, would it be just as strong of a weld as arc? And what would be the procedure to tig weld cast ...

hey guys, I've got a customer who need a cast iron part welded, and I want to know if you guys have any suggestions on how to weld it? I know that your gonna need a pre heat and let it cool very slowly, but that's about it. I've never really done any work with cast iron, so any ideas are welcome. Th...

Miller spectrum 625 not working! Help!
Hey guys! I've got a miller spectrum 625 DC plasma cutter. It's about 4 or 5 years old now, and I've had it hooked up to my plasma cutting table running the PlasmaCam software. So the other day, I was cutting a part, and after cutting for about 1 minute, it just stopped cutting. After trying to rest...

Re: Tig welder releases argon before I depress the foot peda
Len, that would be great! Won't be able to get to the shop this weekend though, so it might not be until Monday. But I could definitely use some step my step help on it! Steve, it flows as soon as I switch the machine on, and doesn't stop flowing until I switch the machine off. So I'm not sure if it...

Yeah, I got the pedal all disconnected and it still flows right when I switch it on. Could it be the gas valve?

Tig welder releases argon before I depress the foot pedal
Hey guys! I've got an old Lincoln water cooled IdealArc, and every time I turn the machine on, before I even initiate an arc or step on the floor pedal, it starts pumping out argon. Any ideas of what this could be and how I could fix it? I've got a normal 20 style torch on it.

Hey guys! I've got a job that requires me to weld cast steel. I know it's not like welding cast iron where you need a pre heat and post heat and all the other preparation it requires, but would there be any other precautions I would need to take to ensure a proper weld and excellent strength?

And yes, I want to find an acid or some type of liquid to get it all completely shiny. But the thing is, I want to get all inside of the rose and get all of it shiny, if there's any way to do that

Help on some steel roses
Alright guys, so I made a couple of roses out of steel. Now the look I was going for was to completely Polish it, so I went about completely polishing every part before I welded it. But of course, by using a oxy-acetylene torch to shape the petals, it darkened, so I was wondering if I could go about...

Re: Help on cutting pipe
Yeah, a Y shape would better describe what I'm going for. The only thing I'm stuck on, is how to get that Y shape out of the pipe? I was thinking of some sort of oval to round adapter kinda like the plate and "shell" idea you were talking about
