Re: Stainless Steel weld grey
If your weld is gray or black you may be welding to cold and slow. I set my Lincoln Ideal Arc 300 so that the foot pedal is a on/off switch. If I try to regulate the amps with the pedal the weld will look like crap. I set the amps at the machine and as soon as I step on the pedal I have a puddle and...

316l to mild steel
Ok guys need to connect a SS 316L 5/8 OD .035 wall tube to a 1/4 thick cold roll mild steel flange. It's not a tig job, trust me. The tube goes through the flange at odd angle and the fit is to sloppy for tig and I have about 50 to do. I need to braze or silver solder the connection. I know that SS ...

Re: carbon steel spitting
I’ve had this happen before. I come to the conclusion that the steel has pockets of air trapped and when you come to them the heat builds pressure and when the puddle reaches the pocket it explodes spitting steel in your torch. You can think china for that. I have uncovered threads before when milli...

Bad gas!
I have a 300cf argon for my main tank and a 150 for a backup. The other day my 300 was very low so before I got started I switched my flow meter over to my full 150. Attempted to weld some 6061 and nothing I done would produce a clean weld. I put a fresh gas lens, cup, tungsten and collet on my torc...

308 lsi filler rod
Hi guys I weld a lot of aluminum and I have gotten accustom to the wet flowing puddle. I have some repetitive 304ss jobs in the shop and I can’t get the hang of the stiff dead puddle. When I try to dab and drag method my filler wants to stick in the puddle. I done some research and found a 304 LSI f...
