Re: New member here and i have a question
by the pic your weld starts off kinda rough and ends smother, other wise your material is too cold and by time time you reach the end you have reach the proper welding temperature, pre heat your material with your torch a little longer before you add any rod, GOOD LUCK !

Re: How is this weld done?
using 2% Thoriated or 1.5% Lanthanated Tungsten with a point instead of a ball on the tip of the Tungsten. Have fun !!!!

Re: Old School Tig No Pedal No AC No HF
Aluminum can can be welded in dcsp . using the highest grade of helium, do not used party balloon grade, this process is for deep penetration so thin metal is out for this process. Feed the rod and watch your heat, I've welded it with HF and no HF. Preheat to 200 and let cool down between every weld...

Re: What's wrong with this picture?
LOL!!!!!!! good one ! I use a Oxygen gauge and had the neck replace with a argon neck, you can use and gas then, oxygen gauge will give you more flow and softer flow.

Re: aluminum welding problem
Pre- heat to 200, do not allow material to heat over 350, let cool to 200 before making another weld,if material and weld reaches 400 you just change the chemistry of the material and set youself out of procedure

Re: Feed rod technique question..do you push or dip???
AC or DC ? In ac , stacking dimes is the usual way, giving you a slight pre-heat before adding more rod, dcsp using Helium burns hot and feeding the rod seems to work a lot better keeping the fill and material cooler
