Have you tried checking the wires all the way from the pins to the potentiometer? See if you are getting a good connection on all wires.

How well did it stick to the copper? From the pic it looks like it is just laying on the pipe. I use 15% to "sweat" fittings on ac units on the side and when the copper gets hot enough the silver solder flows right into the copper. Never tried it with a tig. Interesting

Are there any ac pulsed machines and is ac pulse used by anyone? i see dc pulsed machines but when would ac pulse be used?
