Re: Old GE arc welder

I don't have any real information for you but I swear I've seen that welder before. It was in an old arc blow video someone posted, the video looked like it was from the 50s or 60s. I'll do some looking and see if I can find it or if someone else knows of it please post link.

milling disk

http://inmotion.global/rotary-milling-disc/ I found this milling disk in a magazine used for aluminum it looks like it works great, but I got a quote from this company and they want $2189.00 us. Now my pockets are not that deep and my company and I do not do that much aluminum work. My question is ...

Re: Dynasty DX200 HF start characteristics

I think its just a miller thing. I previously had a 200sd and I currently have a 350 and they both do what your explaining. What I found helps is if before you hit the pedal you actually touch or even a light scratch with the tungsten where you want your arc to start then pull it away and hit the pe...

Re: Welded and bolted

I don't know anything about airplane construction but in the world of structural steel we will use two or more bolts to temporarily hold pieces until the entire joint can be welded and if the bolts aren't in the way of anything they're not always removed.

Re: Welding on Dirt Bike

Ive welded on my dirt bike plenty of times, never disconnected anything and I've never fried anything. I'd just make sure your ground is as close to the weld as you can get. If your really worried id pull the fuel tank and unhook the coil just to be safe.

Re: A36 + 8620 welding

Well I don't want to get in the middle of this exciting conversation but I would use a standard 70 filler you can use something higher but your just wasting your money A36 won't hold more than that and the weld will pull from the base metal before the weld fails, if welds are properly sized. As far ...

Re: argon quick disconnects?

I use the one tec welding makes because they have fittings that go direct to gas fittings no adapters required. For my water cooler I use hydraulic fittings so I don't have to purge the water out when I change torches it takes me about a minute to change torches with no wrenches.

FCAW with CC

I am looking to do some FCAW using a CC machine. I have a miller dynasty 350 and am looking to get a miller suitcase 8vs which will run using CC. I would like to use Lincolns innershield NR 232 self shielded wire. My question is has anyone out there tried this? I've always ran FCAW using CV but I do...

According to their website and my supplier (airgas) they are only sold in 10 lb cartons. Maybe your supplier buys the 10 lb carton and repackages them for 1 lb.

want hobart 4943 tig filler

I'm looking for some 4943 tig filler. I would like 2lbs of 3/32 and 1/8. I don't do a lot of aluminum and they are sold in 10 lb packages. If anyone is willing to split a package with me that would be great.

Blue diver I am also a ADC commercial diver and welder. I worked for Oceaneering International Inc., a great diving company, and also worked for myself as an independent welder. I'm assuming you need to do aluminum welding on boats. My main question is what process are you using for the aluminum wel...

Re: Unique repair - 100+ yr old cast iron

I just had a very similar project to this. It was an cast iron arm that opens an oven door at my local bakery. They estimated the ovens age at about 100 years old. My welding procedure was tig weld dc-, around 75-90 amps(used foot pedal), preheat to a minimum of 300*. The preheat and post heat is ke...

Re: Forklift fork repair

I agree with nickn372 repair procedure. I work for a construction company that has around 20 forklifts and we repair about 2 a month do to abuse. We use almost the same procedure for weld repairs except we use a 10018 rod. Very rarely do we do a second repair do to a bad weld usually like someone sa...

ck flexloc vs tec welding i head roto head

Has anyone welded with both these torches? I know Jody has nothing but good things to say about the ck torch but the tec weld torch seems to be a high quality option. I've welded with ck torches and like them but I have zero experience with tec weld. If anyone has used both could you give me some pr...
