Sorry about that Otto. Vertical stick weld. Used 7018 1/8 rod preheated. Preheated 1 inch plates with backer plate and 1/4 root. Been welding a long time but never got certified. Was welder in Steel Mill that shut down. Any advice would be appreciated.

Recently taken 3G welding test and failed. Reason for failure was major tear. Can anyone tell me what causes tears in the welds in the side bend test.
