Re: Plasma Cutter vs Cold Saw

Please post your satisfaction with the drill bit set, I'm considering ordering one also. Are those masonry bits in your last pic? I will also be interested in your thoughts after using the circular blade.

Re: Plasma Cutter vs Cold Saw

:D I will add my 2 cents here: I started out buying a Harbor Freight band saw, used it 1 day and brought it back for a refund. I then spent more $ and bought the Ellis 1600 band saw (vertical & horizontal capable). LOVE THIS TOOL! Worth the $. 6 months later bought an Everwood Plasma, sent it ba...

Re: Welding Helmet Reccomendation

There is NO WAY I would trust Harbor Freight with my eyesight. I bought the higher end USA logo large viewing area helmet from Miller. Don't regret paying that higher price one bit, a great helmet.

Re: Table saw or cordless circular saw?

Very good question. I'm not sure........... But it's now the only saw I use for cutting aluminum sheet. When their black friday sale came around I even bought 10 spare blades for it. ;) Also not a bad price for this small saw even when it's not on sale.

Re: Table saw or cordless circular saw?

Depending on what you want to cut (ie: aluminum sheet, iron pipe, etc) would depend on what I would recommend. It was pricey but I bought the portable band saw (ELLIS MODEL 1600 MITRE BANDSAW : https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-ELLIS-MODEL-1600-MITRE-BANDSAW-BAND-SAW/133225703706?epid=715527554&hash=...

Thanks much for the reply. It appears that I may be ok to use this very rarely. I'm considering changing out the firebox from aluminum to steel to further reduce any omissions.

Re: First all aluminum meat smoker

Does anyone on this forum know if 1/8" aluminum sheet metal (if I remember correctly 5300 series aluminum?), is safe for smoking food? I've checked around and see different opinions on safety. Some say wipe it down to remove any surface coatings before smoking food, others are leary. On heat re...

Re: First all aluminum meat smoker

Good question on the heat, I will find out very soon. Regarding safely smoking in Aluminum. Very good question. I will need to research it. If it's not safe, I will chalk it up to lesson # 3,150,001. :D But all of it was scrap aluminum I had leftover for years from other projects and it was a good l...

My First all aluminum meat smoker

AlumSmoker-upright (2).jpg http://pics/AlumSmoker.JPG Hello all, long time since I've been here. This is my attempt at an all aluminum meat smoker (venison). Using my Miller 252 mig spool gun using 4943 wire on 1/8" thick aluminum. Firebox on bottom for burning wood (Apple wood since I have a ...

Naive? Far from it. Ranting? It was my opinion just like your comments are your opinion. Everyone has one. You may not agree with mine and I may not agree with yours and that's ok. FYI: I have a Miller 252 and it is a great machine. No problems at all with it. Unlike the 212 that I had, primary circ...

Re: What Plasma Cutter?

My supplier told me about 1 year ago that Miller started making parts in China (some parts?). Could that be the cause of repairs? I don't know, but I was not pleased to hear that about Miller. I despise giving our future enemy any of my $$ but depending on what you're looking for, it's difficult to ...

Re: What Plasma Cutter?

My 2 cents: I've owned my Hypertherm Powermax 60 for 2 weeks now, have made multiple cuts using the "fine" tip consumable and I couldn't be more pleased with it. I cut 1/4" steel over the weekend "almost like cutting butter". Cut was super clean, almost no cleanup required a...

Re: HyperTherm PowerMAX 65 Plasma cutter review

I was a little shell shocked by the cost of a 48" piece of bronze is why I was asking, close to $400, just for a straight edge. I was considering it until I saw that price. A 27" drop was $181.00, more reasonable but still a little pricey. I'm considering it...... Thanks for all the sugges...

Typo on my part, I stated Brass, but the original suggestion was BRONZE for a straight cutting edge (1"x2"x48").

Re: HyperTherm PowerMAX 65 Plasma cutter review

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll try it. I have only had the plasma cutter for 3 days now so still playing around with it. The user manual is not very helpful in suggesting the amp setting for metal thickness unfortunately unless I need more coffee to understand it.

USAWeld's Adjustable Tungsten Grinder

Hello ya'll. I was asked to post my thoughts on this Adjustable Tungsten Grinder from USAWeld.com. I tried this unit on multiple types of tungsten. Following the suggestions of taking it easy on being too aggressive with forcing the tungsten onto the wheel, it gives a very sharp point on the 22.5 de...

Hello ya'll. I thought I'd drop a few thoughts on my new HyperTherm PowerMAX 65 Plasma cutter. Re: Diamond cutting wheels.

Howdy ya'll. I typically use mine to cut into a weld to either reposition the piece or remove it altogether (destruction). I've used the same wheel for a long time and it's still cutting. I agree with the other posts here in that it leaves burrs but when repositioning m piece, I'm typically welding ...
