+1 Everlast. Pretty decent and very affordable. If you can live with scratch start TIG you could get away with a PowerArc 300. Welding Table Tops, AR500 Steel, or something else?

Why? I can buy a half inch thick used piece for a very good price. Would this type of steel have any negative downsides over regular hot rolled plate? Anything negative for high freq TIG?
