Old hard surfacing electrodes.....

I came across an old wooden crate that is still sealed shut with the original metal banding. It's a 50lb crate of them and from what I can figure it's from the 1940s. Has anyone seen anything like this before? Would ir affect the value if I opened it? Are the rods any good anymore? Not sure if it is...

Re: Input amperage for power wave c300?

Thanks guys. I was assuming it would be fine and actually have an unused 60 amp dual pull breaker open from when our house had central air so will be using that. Also for about $200 for the machine Id have a hard time passing it up. I believe they are only about 5 or so years old. Gonna find out som...

Input amperage for power wave c300?

Hey all I am looking at getting a used Lincoln Power Wave C300 multiprocess machine from a local tech school as they are updating their machines. My question is before I bit it will a 50 amp breaker for 220v gonna be enough to run this machine? What is recommended to run this power source? I did som...

I been working in shipyards for alittle bit now. Like others said, be humble let your work show what you can do rather then brag yourself up. Dont be scared to ask questions. Each place does things differently and its best to be on the same page as everyone else, just makes it easier on everyone. Ke...

Re: back up hood

I have the Lincoln Viking 3350 and for the money I could find one with comparable features. Also its nice and light, offers good protection even around your neck where my speedglas lacked, doesnt need to be turned on, so no forgetting and getting flashed the first time, is lightweight, parts are eas...

Re: Calculating ForkLift weight

If nothing else ask the seller to check the tag thats riveted on the machine. It should tell you an exact weight for that model, along with all its capacities.

Those are awful hard to just look at and make a decent guess thats close.

Re: Hobart Handler 180 good deal?

They are just the older model. They went--180-187-190..... Still a great welder. $275, probably couldn't buy that bottle. Look it over good, weld with it. Then buy it and run!!! John Awesome now I just await the response from him saying they are cleaned up and ready to go.... Also what should I be ...

Hobart Handler 180 good deal?

Well I was surfing Craigslist last night and came across an ad in a neighboring city of a body shop that upgraded their welders and had a Handler 180 with regulators, cart, partial roll of wire, basically every minus a hood and tank for $275. I used to have the handler 140 and liked it alot but was ...

Re: Welder Burn on the chest?

Our job offers us welders the chin flap to protect our chest from that burn since alot of work is done kneeling and bent over exposing the chest alot. Works great. Ours are held on with velcro as well. Have also seen some people that are outside contractors cut up an old welding sleeve and use part ...

Re: Will helmet continue to work if batteries die?

Batterys are cheap. $3 a piece of eBay. Bought a set of them for my buddies Jackson when it wouldn't turn on. John Yeah I actually stopped at walmart and they had the Energizer 2450 batteries I needed on clearance for a $1 a peice. Grabbed all 8 that were left. Should be good for a while now, plus ...

Re: Miller Hard Hat adapter on Lincoln Viking 3350?

Well a few days of using these at work and cant find any issues with them thus far. Only thing is our grinding shields still use the halo style hard hat mounts so the tabs on the hat side get in the way. Planning on grabbing another set to fit to my grinding shield for quicker switching between helm...

Re: Will helmet continue to work if batteries die?

Well as test like you guys said I tried a couple things. I took the battery right out and it didnt work at all. Then I had a known dead battery and it would darken sometimes if the weld pool wasnt blocked by anything but even then it wasnt consistent. Long story short be sure to have spare batteries...

Re: DIY Helmet Fan???

How about, just for an experiment, pick up one of those stupid-looking solar-powered ball-cap fans, fitting your 40mm blade to the shaft in place of the model-airplane-propellor-looking thing they come with, and letting your arc power the fan? Steve S Thats one thing I have never thought of. Wonder...

I have three words for you: Miller Cool Band. They are available in two varieties; belt filter, and back of the head filter. They aren't cheap, but you'll like them. I use a hair dryer to warm the helmet first if the weather is cold. I have seen these before but unfortunately like I mentioned I hav...

Re: Miller Hard Hat adapter on Lincoln Viking 3350?

Just an FYI. I stopped and picked up a set of these at my local airgas on the way to work today. They worked great on my lincoln helmet with one very minor modification. Just had to file off a small molded tab to make the square that fits into the helmet shell itself so it would pop into the helmet....

Try cutting up a raw potato and rubbing it on your glasses. In some cases, it works well. The problem of my glasses fogging up under my helmet Good tip. I never heard of that before. Will helmet continue to work if batteries die?

Just got the Lincoln Viking 3350 helmet and was wondering while using it at work tonight, since it has a solar power with battery assist will it continue to work minus the test feature if the batteries were to die on me while at work? I plan on getting a few spares anyhow but surprisingly couldnt fi...

Miller Hard Hat adapter on Lincoln Viking 3350?

So I got the viking 3350 weld helmet and am hoping that there is a way to use some hard hat adapters that use the slots in the new 3m hard hats. Has anyone tried to put different brands of adapters on the lincoln welding helmets? I have the type that is the ring that just sits on top of the hard hat...

I have to wear a hardhat under my helmet so kinda kills the cool band idea. Also I have to wear a half face respirator so no worried about the fumes.
