Re: Buying Gas and Supplies
Don't buy a bottle. If it's yours, you are responsible for recertifying it regularly. If it's "leased" from a supplier, the gas is cheaper, you never have to worry about certifications, and you're not waiting for a fill. Just bring in your empty, and they'll hand you a full one. Steve It ...

Using it for grinding tungsten only. If used for grinding other materials, the other material will embed itself into the grinding stone, and then embed itself into the tungsten from the stone the next time you grind tungsten.rickbreezy wrote:What makes a grinder "dedicated"?

Re: Hot Rod Tig Cart
Nice cart!... and solution to the after market water cooled torch, but is it easy to switch the setup around? Decision time.... First off I'm either getting a 250EX (then save my pennies forever for a plasma cutter) or a PP256, but before I put in my order I want to figure a few things out. I alrea...

Re: New Guy, New Welder, New questions
If you look at some of the beads on the right end(where all my beads begin)you'll see an initial frosted area prior to the beginning of the bead. That is where the arc initially wandered around and then finally settles. It looks like the large frosted area at the beginning of your beads could be fr...

Re: Starter Consumables for a Noob?
Soo, when I head down to my local welding shop with my list, is there any manufacturers that you folks recommend I steer clear of? Should brand even play a part in ones decisions when shopping for consumables? So far I'm really liking the Arctime Hybrid tungstens from Arczone. Although Ive only tri...

Rugar... Where are you? If you happen to be in my district or maybe even if you are not, I might be able to fix the Airgas attitude issue? Let me know... ;) So Cal Its not just here. There is a long thread over at Welding Web with a lot of others complaining about Airgas as well. Seems as if you do...

Dude! You bought a what? Just kidding! The only negatives I hear on the 256 is having to switch back and forth from TIG to plasma. But Ive read posts from guys that have added three way adapters of some sort to make gas/air switching less of a pain. I just added a new CK200 torch to my...

Re: Gas...Own, rent lease?
I own all of mine. Two oxygen, two acetylene, 3 nitrogen, 1 argon/co2, and 1 argon. The price to buy 330cf bottles of both c25 and straight argon here from airgas is $350 filled. But airgas wants $120 for a refill. The independent shop here wants $400 to buy new filled, but $65 for a refill. So I bu...

Nothing wrong with having a Everlast TIG. Several of us on here use them. I have a 250EX. A GOOD auto darkening hood is the way to go for TIG.

Re: new here, need some advice :)
I have a 250EX and I love it so far. Think you meant 256? Not 226? Welding options are supposed to be the exact same. But from what I hear its gets to be a real pain changing back and forth from TIG to Plasma, especially when using both on the same job where you need to change back and forth every f...

Its kinda like doing a burnout. Stand on the pedal hard to get the puddle going, and then back pedal it enough to maintain your puddle without loosing wheel spin.

Re: Tungsten Sharpening made easy..
I don't understand the buying pre-ground tungsten hype. Use it until it needs to be resharpened and then toss it? Just doesn't make since to me. If your going to have to re-sharpen later, why not just do it the first time as well?sschefer wrote: then your only recourse it to buy pre-sharpened tungstens.

Re: Tungsten Sharpening made easy..
don't mean much but my welding instructor told me that some pretty tasty radiation is given off when sharpening these things. just wondering if tht's true or not? Only when using Thoriated (Red) Tungsten. Just don't breath the dust while grinding them. Tri Mix and Lanthanated seem to work better fo...
