Why are electric die grinders so expensive?

I've been looking to get a die grinder. I have air powered die grinders but the noise is a little too much sometimes (you know what I mean). Anyway, been looking at several models and I gotta say.. they seem a little pricey for what they are. I can get a hand held variable speed trim router for unde...

Re: I hate intro's

I think you've got way more years of real world experience than 90% of the guys on here so don't be shy about teaching us all a thing or two that you have picked up in your experiences.

Re: Advice Please

My question is, what would be the minimum requirements I would need to open this potential shop? As well what would you guys suggest as far as maybe carrying liability insurance and or being bonded? Thank you in advance for your responses. Tx1afan, Minimum requirements to have a business is to have...

Re: dumbass move of the day thread (?)

I'm not happy with the Miller Digital Elite headgear. It doesn't stay up because its heavy and the stay up mechanism wears out quickly. I'm on Headgear #3 and don't use it everyday. I'd like to hear more about the Optrel and Sentinel. I tried on a Miller T-94 and it was lighter so maybe it wouldn't ...

Re: Optrel Panoramaxx

This is what I got from Optrel as of today July 5th 2017. I know it will be hard for people who spend $400-$500 for a hood to be objective. I would like to know which of the top 3-4 hoods would be tops. Miller T94, Esab A50 Sentinel, Optrel panoramaxx, Speedglas 9100? Pro's cons, I currently use a M...

Re: TIG for dummies?

I agree with the original post-er i would like to see BAD WELDS. When we "rookie", "hobby", non-professional welders get under the hood we don't always see what we see in videos of proper technique and results. By seeing the wrong way and what caused the wrong thing we can learn ...

Re: Hello from KC MO

Just following up on this.. it turns out the Argon was not pure and allowed oxidation too. While the cast issue was also true. After running a few beads on mild steel with the same problem, I finally turned in a 1/2 full bottle of bad argon for a new bottle of good argon and the difference proved th...

Viewability issues and bib accessories

I don't do this stuff 24/7 but have enough time under a hood to know that most people have had similar issues at one time or another. I've had 3 different helmets, currently using a Miller Digital Elite. I do primarily stick welding but have picked up TIG in the last year or so and understand the qu...

Hello from KC MO

I'm and OLD newbie. I have tried just about everything and I'm fair at most things. Been watching a lot of Jody's pretty welding and thought I might try my hand at TIG. Bought an Everlast Multi unit with DC TIG. Have been able to make coins most of the time. Learned why TIG Fingers are so valuable. ...
