Re: Tungsten for alum.
I think I remember Jody say that a 3/32" tungsten was good for 150 amps. It could be used up to 200 amps but it is better to go to 1/8" tungsten if doing a lot of welding at 200 amps. This is because the thinner tungsten cannot carry as much current without overheating. I have only used 2m...

Re: Tungsten for alum.
Some grind information for you (by way of pics) I use the middle of the first pic on aluminum and the bottom two taper grinds on steel. Is this thread hijacking because someone mentioned steel taper grinding or because someone mentioned grinding? I suppose if someone mentioned they used ceriated tu...

Re: Bonehead move/Warning to FlexLoc owners
I just started TIG welding. Seeing this brought to my mind a funny incident. I was practicing laying some beads, moving from right to left, advancing about 8". I was holding the torch like a pencil, near the bend. Things were going well until I stopped the arc, flipped up my hood and noticed my...

I made some posts on Weldingweb but they seem to have more pro welders doing large scale pipe and industrial fabrication. I am into small scale repair/ hobbyist. TIG is great for small parts. You can weld them without melting them down.

Re: Which welder for beginner?
I bought the Eastwood about a month ago. The pedal makes heat control possible without changing arc length. I tried it with the torch switch but after using the pedal I will never go back if given the choice. Eastwood has a 3 year warranty. I bought mostly because they are about an hours drive away ...

Re: The CK flex-lock video . . (copied from video discussion
HF should not penetrate the skin. That's why people are not electrocuted by the Tesla coil experiments. High amperage DC or high amperage low frequency AC can create quite a magnetic field as shown by the people reporting metal filings aligning with a MIG cable. The higher the amps, the stronger the...

Re: Tungsten for alum.
Jody has a video where he tested various electrode types and he concluded the 2% lanthanated deformed the least especially running AC.

Re: Possible to TIG weld to 2" ball bearing?
Those welds and the project looks great, as is. If you want perfection, chuck each one in a lathe and clean them up.
